The famous number 23 is the first former NBA player to be a majority owner of a NBA team, as you see he is not the only owner but the one whose investment is bigger and that makes him a majority investor. The Bobcats are currently facing major flow of debts. As you all know Michael has been a minority owner of the Bobcats since 2006, now he will be a major name for Charlotte as Managing Member of Basketball Operations after their owner Robert L. Johnson, who formed the team back in 2003.

He celebrated his 47th Birthday this month and ever since that time he was mentioning his wish to buy the Bobcats; and not long after that he was already making negotiations with Mr. Johnson, besides him (Jordan) former Houston Rockets President George Postolos was trying to buy the team, but not just because Michael’s offer was very generous ($275 Millions) did Mr. Johnson agree to give him the team, but also because he has proven to be a great manager by the way he manged to gather a wonderful team of investors who along with him will recover the team’s financial and public status.

When the news finally was confirmed, he made some comments about his latest and fascinating goal.

"Purchasing the Bobcats is the culmination of my post-playing career goal of becoming the majority owner of an NBA franchise," Jordan said in a statement. "I am especially pleased to have the opportunity to build a winning team in my home state of North Carolina. I plan to make this franchise an organization that Charlotte can be proud of, and I am committed to doing all that I can to achieve this goal." said Michael.

Michael Jordan’s image might help the Bobcats, just recently he was honored at the Symphony Hall, sadly that was a night to be treasured in all the fans’ minds, but his speech didn’t accomplish that.
