Meet Beth Modica, a former prosecutor and hockey Mom, who is in big trouble for having pool parties at her home last summer and allegedly provided pot, alcohol, and some sexual favors to friends of her 16-year-old son. You can see photos and a biography of her here.
She was indicted earlier today on charges of one count of third-degree rape and four counts of third-degree criminal sexual assault. In addition to the five felonies, she has a total of 30 misdemeanor charges against her – four counts of third-degree sexual abuse and 26 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Let’s hope she is not guilty, otherwise one must ask WTF is wrong with this woman? First of all, she’s a freakin’ attorney and she’s married to a police chief. Go figure.
Last summer, between July 20 and July 22, Beth Modica allegedly had intercourse with a 16-year-old and oral sex with a 15-year-old in her home, while they were there for a pool party (or parties). She is also alleged to have given both of them alcohol. Rumors were running rampant that the boys were part of her 16-year-old son’s Suffern High School hockey squad, but apparently that is not the case.
Modica’s husband, Paul, Spring Valley Chief of Police, was not present at the pool parties, according to neighbors.
Modica pleaded not guilty on all counts and bail was set at $75,000 cash or bond.
As a biography, Beth Modica is 44 years old. She grew up in Rockland, New York and attended Spring Valley High School. She went on to graduate from Syracuse University and got her law degree from St. John’s Law School. She worked as an attorney in Rockland for the District Attorney’s Office in the 80’s and early 90’s, then became an assistant town attorney in Ramapo and village attorney for Sloatsburg, which is where she lived with her husband and four children.
