Carl Edwards

On Sunday at the Kobalt Tools 500 in Atlanta, Brad Keselowski had one of every Nascar racer’s worst experiences, to crash at a high speed after being sent spinning in the air, and for this Carl Edwards was to blame. How did that happen?

Well Carl’s 99 Roush Fenway Form and Brad’s 12 Dodge were running at 190 mph on lap 323 when all of the sudden Carl hit Brad on the side sending him flying into the air before crashing with its hood into a outside wall and then landed on its wheels, luckily nobody was hurt. Carl accepted it was intentional, although at no time did he plan to send Brad airborne, but the damage was done and Brad was furious.

“Not cool" and that it "could have killed someone in the grandstands." Keselowski said.

So is Carl Edwards the villain or bad boy in this situation? That is hard to say, you see they both are since Brad has this history of a car wrecker himself and just last year these two naughty drivers were the main characters in another car wreck in Talladega, with the small exception that on that time they exchanged roles if you know what I mean.

But about Atlanta, what did Nascar officials have to say? Mike Helton, that is Nascar’s president, agreed he will not be not suspended, but on a three race probation, his races will be monitored by Nascar Officials, and he added that Carl didn’t do anything that will cause him to get in any deeper trouble. I beg your pardon Mr. Helton?

“NASCAR promised in January to give the drivers more leeway in policing themselves and settling scores in an effort to energize the sport. We made it very clear to (Edwards) that these actions were not acceptable and did go beyond what we said back in January about putting the driving back in the hands of the drivers," Helton said. "We believe (Edwards) understands our position at this point." he said.

Although there have been strong comments by fans and sports analysts, there is nothing that can be done, in fact the same Brad Keselowski agreed with NASCAR’s rules.
