Keep reading to know more about this news plus take a look at the photos and the moment when he collapsed in the video below.
For the Detroit Pistons’ young guard, it all seemed to be going great, he was indeed named Conference Player of the Week last December, but what was wrong recently that everything began to look a little blurry for him?
Maybe the reason for that blurriness was that poor Rodney collapsed on his trainer’s arm during the game between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 5, 2010.
How did that happen? Well that’s a bit confusing since he really was doing great at the game’s timeout, he walked out of the arena looking good, but when he sat down on the bench he suddenly slumped over on his coach’s arm. Paramedics at the game rushed to assist him, checking his vital signs, giving oxygen. As he was receiving medical attention his teammates played for a couple of more minutes, but afterward they surrounded Rodney in hopes their dear friend was okay.
He was taken in an ambulance to the local Cleveland Clinic where he was going to be treated, although at the moment when he left his vitals signs were stable, it was reported that he never really blacked out, he was conscious at all times. He was released on Saturday and will join his team shortly, but not before doing some more tests on him to make sure everything is going to be alright.
"We’re just glad he’s going to be all right. He was in good spirits. We had a good conversation, and he was very alert, I think he’s going to be okay. But time will tell.” said Coach John Kuester.
But for coach Kuester this was one of his episodes with Rodney which was like a flashback from that horrible incident back in 1993 when Reggie Lewis from the Boston Celtics collapsed during a game and then died, the cause of his death was a cardiac arrest he was just 27 years old.
This is not the first time he has had an episode like this; during a game back in November 2008 he missed a couple of games due to feeling lightheaded and dizziness he felt on his knees when standing up. He walked to the locker room after being checked and nothing abnormal was revealed. Another dizziness episode affected him in January although the cause this time was dehydration. Let’s hope he really takes care of his health problems in order to not suffer bigger problems in the future. Take a look at some of Rodney Stuckey’s photos and video below.
