In a blast from the past this morning, rumors in the news are saying that Disney wants to produce a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” remake! Who doesn’t remember the classic from the 80’s where quirky scientist dad accidentally miniaturizes his kids with another one of his crazy inventions? Then, the kids have to find a way to tell their parents what happened while avoiding all the dangers of being tiny? This movie is truly a classic Disney movie from the days where not every thing they made had to have a song and dance. Now, rumor has it that they want to recreate the movie with a multicultural, edgier style. Keep reading!

According to one news source, the ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ remake will purportedly star Rahul Mahajan  and Crystal Bowersox. Rahul is an aspiring politician and Indian Reality TV star who was recently married on the Indian version of “The Bachelor,” and Browersox, an American Idol contestant certainly would make for a new twist on the movie, but I think the rumor’s a little far fetched.

Who ever it is, the well loved Rick Moranis‘ role as father/scientist will no doubt be the toughest to replicate! A crew member from the original 1989 film did confirm that the film will be made, saying

“Not sure how far it is along, but it is in the works.”

Let’s hope Disney does a good job with this project, and please, please do not let them add a song to this one! What are your thoughts about the news of a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” remake? Let us know in the comments section!
