Meet Anquan Boldin, he is the latest addition to the Baltimore Ravens’ squad this year. Would you like to get to know him a little bit more? Then keep on reading and don’t forget to check out Anquan Boldin’s photos and video below.
This incredible NFL player has tried his luck not only as a wide receiver and as a quarterback, but also in basketball during his high School years at Pahokee High School. When he made his change into football there was no turning back. After high school he went to Hinds Community College and Florida State University. He was born on October 3, 1980 in Pahokee, Florida. For Anquan and his young brother Demir, who plays at Wake Forest University, their football skills run in the family since their uncle is Korey Banks, the defensive back for the Canadian football team BC Lions.
Anquan was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals during the 2003 NFL draft, he made it into the NFL Pro Bowl in 2004 and again in 2006 and 2008. He missed almost the entire 2005 season due to an injury. While he was the Cardinals defensive captain he requested to be traded to another team, he attributed that his presence didn’t receive any recognition of any kind, he wasn’t traded instead his contract was renewed.
In 2008 he suffered quite a bump in the face when he was intercepted by New York Jets’ Eric Smith who knocked him down leaving him unconscious, like Anquan, Eric was also injured, but Boldin was the one who took the worst part, his severe broken nose left him out of the season in fact his fractures were so severe that it even required surgery. He made his comeback for the 2008 season he had 1,000 yards receiving plus 500 receptions, setting an NFL record, but even with all this glory he wouldn’t want to stay with the Cardinals, he kept pushing about a trade, perhaps this had something to do about his decision on changing his agent, because in 2009 he fired Drew Rosenhaus. That year his request of a trade was getting pretty close to him, not before he marked his farewell by becoming one of the top fastest players in the NFL who had more than 7,000 yds as a receiver. Finally on March 5, 2010 his dream about being traded came true, and who was the lucky team? Certainly “The Baltimore Ravens”, and how did they close their union? Well with a $28 M deal for the next four years. Congratulations to Anquan Boldin for becoming the new wide Receiver of the Baltimore Ravens!!
