Canadian Hockey Team Captain Sidney Crosby is celebrating their victory over the United States on the last day in Vancouver. After we were tied 2-2 it was Sidney Crosby who set the difference when he scored the medal winning goal 7:40 into overtime. Congratulations to the Canadian Hockey Team.

Sidney was born on August 7, 1987 in Cole Harbor, Nova Scotia, Canada. His parents are Troy and Trina Crosby, he also has a sister named Taylor. He started playing hockey at age two or at least began throwing pucks, at age three he was already skating. In his teenage years he joined the Dartmouth Subways where he won the MVP award then he got onto his school’s hockey team, the Sabres, and was drafted in 2005 by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Two years later he was named team’s captain and he made it onto the 2007 NHL’s All- Star Game, becoming the youngest player to be in the team. In 2009 Sidney and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup after defeating the Detroit Red Wings.

Along Team Canada, he made his debut in 2003, then came the 2004 Junior Championships in Helsinki. After that the 2005 World Junior Championships in Grand Forks, the 2006 World Championships, and he was named alternate captain on Team Canada at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver where he gave his team the winning goal in overtime, defeating the U.S.
