As you all know, Tiger Woods’ press conference was this morning, February 19th. Is he going back to rehab? Why was the conference scheduled for Friday the 19th? All the answers you are searching for are here, just keep reading, plus check out some of Tiger Woods’ photos and video below.
All right guys! Tiger Woods press conference aired on Friday February 19th at 11:00 EST; at TPC Sawgrass. There were no questions allowed as you all know and he would apologize for his behavior, or so his agent Mark Steinberg said.
At the conference, Tiger admitted how he let down his fans, family and friends, how he and Elin are working on the process to work on their relationship, and how his change will not be on his words, but on his actions.
Tiger spoke great things about Elin, saying she never hit him on Thanksgiving or any other day, and stated how Elin deserves “praise not blame”. He asked the media to please leave his kids, wife and mother alone. He admitted he needed help, that’s why he entered rehab for the last 45 days in the first place and still will. Tiger’s mother and friends were at the press conference, and although Elin was not there, she was a great presence on his speech.
Tiger will be returning to rehab afterwards, in fact the next day, due to this his press conference was scheduled for Friday and not intentionally in an act of revenge to Accenture (who is currently sponsoring the Match Play Tourney) for leaving him. In fact Tiger thanked his friend, fans and PGA tour for their support, warm thoughts, and asked them to find a way to believe in him.
Golfer Ernie Els felt that the timing was selfish, but PGA tour commissioner Tim Finchem spoke about it saying that “they have their own reasons for this schedule” and that Tiger’s conference would be over before coverage of the tournament.
Mr. Finchem also said :
"As we understand it, Tiger’s therapy called for a week’s break at this time during which he has spent a few days with his children and then will make his statement before returning," Finchem said in a letter Thursday. "Accordingly, there was very little flexibility in the date for the announcement."
This news was later confirmed by Tiger himself, he will be returning to rehab to finish his rehabilitation program. Tiger said he also turns to Buddhism which he practices since his childhood and was taught by his mother.
