U.S Olympic Hockey player Gigi Marvin will soon take the ice with the rest of the U.S Women’s National Hockey Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Although she is a newcomer to Team USA, she is no stranger to the game and you can expect big things from her in Vancouver. There is more on U.S Olympic Hockey player GIgi Marvin, including an awesome video of her and other players at their holiday party, so keep reading.
The almost 22 year old, her birthday is in March, Gigi Marvin hails from the cold town of Warroad, Minnesota. Gigi, which is short for Gisèle, grew up in a hockey family. Her father, Mike Marvin, played for Brown University and her grandfather, Cal Marvin, is a former U.S Men’s National Ice Hockey Team coach and manager and member of the U.S Hockey Hall of Fame. Her younger brother Aaron currently plays for St. Cloud State in Minnesota. Oh yeah hockey is definitely in her DNA.
She may have come from a hockey loving family, but it was Gigi Marvin’s hard work that earned her a spot on the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team. She earned countless honors throughout her high school and college career. Plus she is a three time member of the U.S Under 22 Select Team which is an awesome accomplishment. She has also been a participant in the USA Hockey Player Development Camp and USA Hockey Women’s National Festival, nice!
Although hockey has always been front and center for Gigi, she also played softball and ran cross country in high school, lettering in all three sports multiple times, which is so cool and also pretty amazing. It is obvious that Gigi is just an all round fantastic athlete. After high school Marvin chose to take hockey to the next level, she played for the University of Minnesota, a.k.a. Minnesota Golden Gophers, while earning a degree in Broadcast and Journalism.
Gigi Marvin seems to be the girl that has it all. She has the beautiful girl next door looks, she is feared on the ice and she is headed to the Olympics, not bad for a small town girl from Minnesota. I know I will be watching U.S Olympic Hockey player Gigi Marvin when she takes the ice in Vancouver and I think you should too!
