As a biography, Petra Majdic was born in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia on December 22, 1979 so her age is 30. She is 5’9″ weiging at 144 pounds. She currently resides in Brinje, Slovenia. In her skiing career, she has received a Silver medal for her competition in the Sprint in the 2007 World Championships at Sapporo. Also, she placed 2nd overall in 2009’s World Cup and took 1st in the Sprint there. In the 2008 World Cup she took first place. Then in the World Cup of 2007, she placed 2nd.
In addition to winning nine World Cup’s in the 2008-2009 season, the Slovenian Olympic Cross Country skier is said to be one of the favorites to possibly win the gold medal at this year’s Olympics in Vancouver, however, that is if she can beat her fast and furious rival, Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland. Kowalczyk clenched the world title in the pursuit and 30km.
This is what Majdic had to say about her success tactics in the individual Sprint event:
You start really fast, continue even faster and finish totally on the full! This is sprint. There are no tactics possible, especially if you compete in the women’s category. We don’t know tactics! We know only for full!
We will see how Slovenia’s Petra will do at the Olympics who is the first female skier from Slovenia to win a medal in a World Cup, as well as the first to win a race in the World Cup, and even to make the podium at World Championships. She will once again face her toughest opponent, Justyna Kowalczk. Let the games begin!
