Gina Carano’s upcoming is receiving a lot of publicity lately, and Gina spoke to the press recently about being touted as the “face of women’s MMA”:
“I am a recognized female in the sport, but I don’t think that I am the face of women’s MMA,” Carano said. “It’s just a label. I’m Gina Carano. You can label me that.”
Carano acknowledges that she’s got a tough bout ahead of her in Kobold, but she’s ready. “I’m coming ready to fight. I’m going to give it my all.”
Gina Carano was born on April 16, 1982 in Dallas County, Texas. She is 25 years old. She is the daughter of former Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Glenn Carano (backup from 1977-1983) and Dana Joy Cason.
Gina attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and studied psychology.
Gina made a name for herself while fighting for EliteXC. Her specialty is Muay Thai. She made history on February 10, 2007 when she was featured in the first ever MMA televised fight on a premium channel (Showtime) with Julie Kedzie. Gina won.
Gina has appeared in the film “Ring Girls“, a movie that featured girls who were trained by her trainer, Master Toddy. This led to the reality show “Fight Girls“, shown on the Oxygen Channel, where Gina served as a mentor to seven girls vying for a chance to fight in Thailand.
