Lindsey Jacobellis

The beautiful Lindsey Jacobellis is one of the best female snowboarders in the world, her name is well known, and her style is admire and applauded. Lindsay was born on August 19, 1985, in Danbury, Connecticut. Her older bother Ben Jacobellis, who is a former snowboarder, taught her everything she needed to get started in snowboarding.

"My earliest memory was when I first learned to turn, and my brother was there cheering me on. My brother rented a board and picked it up right away. He was the one who got the whole family to take up snowboarding. Benny got me into the spirit, and was a major influence."

She started her snowboard Cross competition in 1996, at the Stratton Mountain School, when she just 11 years old. In the beginning she was into halfpipe and snowboarder-cross, when she was just 12 she started competing in an event called Friday Night Races at her natal Stratton, she was the only girl at the event. At 15 she received the invitation to participate in the X games, since that time until now she has been a regular participant at the event. At the X games in 2005 she won the first place in Snowboard cross and in half pipe she was eighth, in 2006 she won the second place and regained her first place. The next year the same in 2008, 2009 and 2010 in Aspen.

Lindsey’s performance at the 2006 Winter Olympics was one of the most incredible, memorable yet sad memories for her and fans, she was definitely winning but a wrong maneuver sent her to the ground as well as her chance to win gold, instead she went home with the silver.

"Snowboarding is fun. I was ahead. I wanted to share my enthusiasm with the crowd. I messed up. Oh well, it happens."

At the World Cups  her performances in Snowboard cross and half pipe have been more than outstanding. In the 2006-2007 season she won the first place in NY, and second in Japan halfpipe, 2007-08 she won the first place in Canada, Korea, Australia, Chicago and second place in halfpipe at New Zealand. In 2008-09 she took first place in Argentina, Australia, Spain, Canada and this year at Australia she won the first place.

Lindsey’s beautiful golden curls not only decorate her head, but she also donated some of her hair to “Locks of Love” (A charity that makes wigs for women with cancer), and she is also involved in animal protection in association with ASPCA or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Lindsey is well known for snowboarding, but also for her appearances in campaigns by Visa, Frosted Flakes (Cereal) and Airwalk to name a few.
