‘Raging Grannies’ Rip CBS Over Tebow Ad

Controversy over CBS’s decision to allow a ‘Pro-Life’ ad during the superbowl is growing by the day. The ad, starring Tim Tebow, has now drawn the ire of activist group “Raging Grannies.” And I don’t think this protest is going to go unnoticed thanks to some edgy tactics by the Grannies.

Tim Tebow 1 1 2

Drawing attention during his college career for his superstar play, and again after his career among fans and foes alike, he once again had people talking about him, wondering whether he’d make it in the NFL. Now he’s done it again simply by starring in a commercial and speaking his mind. Looks like this guy can’t help making a splash! See below for the full story and the video of the Grannies’ protest!

The commercial airing during the Super Bowl on CBS is said to feature Tebow talking about his mother and how she ignored her doctor’s advice and did not terminate her pregnancy. The baby which she was carrying was Tim Tebow. Quite compelling if you ask me!

It’s also pretty clear that the Grannies or anyone else are protesting against the fact that Tebow is allowed to tell his story during the Superbowl, I think they are angry that both sides of the argument are not allowed to have equal representation on the network.

Historically, CBS has been very conservative as far as what organization or company could advertise during the Superbowl, denying commercials from PETA, MoveOn.org and the United Church of Christ in previous years. On one hand, it’s rather strange that now, all of a sudden, CBS would air a commercial with such obvious undertones. On the other hand, CBS is out to make money, and what network executive would say no to someone trying to pay them millions of dollars for Tim Tebow to make an appearance during the Superbowl?

As one satire headline aptly characterizes it: “Super Bowl to be played during Tim Tebow commercial.”

CBS is defending their decision to air the commercial, saying that the advertisement went through “full standards process that all ads go through”
