Just announced….Carrie Underwood will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Miami. Get more of the scoop here, plus photos and video.
The country crooner is tapped to sing the National Anthem during Super Bowl XLIV, as part of pre-game festivities. Queen Latifah will sing America the Beautiful.
This will be the first time the former Idol winner will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, previously she had sung the anthem at an NFL Playoff game in 2006.
Who else will be performing at the Super Bowl? As previously announced in November 2009, The Who will provide Halftime entertainment. Now that will be an awesome show!
Okay, back to Carrie…things are going pretty darn well for the blonde beauty. She got engaged in December to Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher, and sports a *huge* rock on her ring finger, no word yet on a wedding date though. She takes a stab at acting, and will appear on an episode of How I Met Your Mother in March, where she plays the love interest of Ted. Check out some pictures of her guest spot here. Of course, who can forget the Grammy’s this Sunday – Carrie is nominated for two trophies: Best Country Female Vocal for ‘Just a Dream’ and her ‘I Told You So’ duet with Randy Travis for Best Country Collaboration. She has already won four Grammy’s to date. She is scheduled to perform in a tribute to the late Michael Jackson, along with another Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Usher and Celine Dion. Good Luck to you Carrie! We are rooting for you!
