From Olathe Northwest High School teacher and coach Joel Branstrom hit an amazing half court shot for Final Four Tickets. However it was only meant to be a prank on this teacher, who took it in great spirits. And now he is actually going to the game!
If you haven’t seen the hot internet video yet, let me lay it out for you. The students planned a set up on their girls’ basketball coach and former Kansas basketball player. He was to be blindfolded, meant to think he made the shot, and that he was going to the Final Four. All went crazy when we he actually made the shot! Find out the rest and see the amazing video below!
Last Friday, the 22nd, life in Kansas got a little more exciting. When the shot was made, and recorded by the schools media department, it was all over the internet by the weekend. The students felt bad, and pooled their money to give him a gift card to a local restaurant. But it didn’t end there.
As more people saw it, rumors started flying around that someone would actually give him the tickets. Well it has now been said that he and his family are being provided tickets, lodging and transportation from an undisclosed donor! You can sign me up for a prank any day!
Apparently the former basketball athlete suspected it was a prank from the beginning and never really expected anything. Now he and his family are going to the big game and he has brought a lot of publicity to his school. ESPN interviewed him soon after and it seems like no matter how this prank would have gone, this teacher had the right attitude.
I can’t quite wrap my mind around this one. The prank would have been funny enough. Then to see the coach actually make the shot amazed me. And now to think how popular it got and the fact that he actually got tickets is crazy. What do you think?
