Gaines Adams life started on June 6, 1983 in Greenwood, South Carolina. Gaines Adams began practicing football early and attended  Fork Union Military Academy in 2001, later he went on to Cambridge Academy where his presence on the field was notorious as a defensive end and wide receiver; Gaines and his team won the state title in 2000.

While at Cambridge Gaines Adams was awarded All-State Honoree twice.

Adams started college in 2002 at Clemson, although his first years he didn’t do much.  In 2004 he was named 12th Man Award in Clemson Tigers’ Defense. In 2006 was named to the All- America Team by the NCAA.

Gaines Adams admitted the use of Marijuana in 2006, but that didn’t stop the Tampa Buccaneers to pick him in the 2007 NHL draft, with a $46 million deal for the next six years. Now a Buccaneer, he landed in the 2007 NFL All- Rookie of the year Team.

In October, 2009  Gaines Adams was picked by the 2010  NFL draft by the Chicago Bears, but on January 17, 2010, Gaines Adams’ girlfriend found him unconscious at his house, he was taken to the hospital, but sadly was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m in Greenwood, South Carolina. Although drug use was suspected, the autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a cardiac arrest due to enlarge heart.
