Tom Brady Career: ‘Marriage and Kids Don’t Hurt It’

January 14, 2010

Tom Brady: ‘Career is not hurt because I got married or had kids’. The star QB for the New England Patriots speaks out regarding recent criticism that has been tossed his way, where many think the loss against the Ravens (in post season play) and the loss against the Texans (final game of the season) were due to his lack of focus. Okay so for Tom Brady – career and family are the two things in his life that he is very focused on. So he says…

In his weekly interview with radio show Dennis & Callahan, he said:

“Hopefully because I got married, that doesn’t affect the way I play quarterback. That’s not something I’ve thought much about … That my performance as a football player is going to go down because I got married or I had children.”

If you live under a rock and don’t know what possibly could have served as a distraction to the hunky QB? Well, he married his longtime supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen…twice…once in Santa Monica and then again in Costa Rica. Last month, Gisele gave birth to their first child together, Benjamin. Valid distractions? Maybe.

Instead, Brady felt that there was a ‘leadership problem‘. The Patriots lost Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Richard Seymour, Mike Vrabel and Larry Izzo this past season and Brady knows that played a part in it as well.

“We’ve all thought about that. Those are special players and special guys, and it’s not the uniform that makes players play the Patriot Way.”

“Other guys have to step in and fill those shoes, and other guys here who were here with those guys have to take those lessons they learned from those guys and apply them. … Obviously, the leadership on this team wasn’t where it needed to be.”

So what do you think folks? Has marriage and family life affected Tom Brady’s career? Leave me your thoughts plus check out some pictures and video below.
