It’s been over a month already since Cincinnati Bengals Wide receiver Chris Henry’s tragic death. What did his fiancée Loleini Tonga have to say about it? Will she be charged? Did she assist at the funeral? All this news is here plus photos and video below.
Chris Henry was just 26 years old when he died on December 17, 2009, he was engaged to his life companion Leilani Tonga, who has an older child from a previous relationship Seini and so did Chris with daughter Denalya. Loleini and Chris had two children together Chris Jr, 2, and DeMarcus, 10 months.
Chris and Leilani’s life was all becoming a fairy tale come true after overcoming some really serious difficulties like Chris’ DUI, assault with a firearm, consuming alcoholic beverages with three underage girls in his hotel room, and one of these ladies accused him of being sexually harassed by Chris but later declared she lied, Chris also was charged for driving without a valid license, assaulting a valet parking guy, 18 year old Gregory Meyer to name a few.
Chris Henry improved his way of life tremendously and he claimed the cause of this change was Leilani.
"She’s been a big help. She’s been right here with me and going through things and helping out on my side… She has my back with everything I’ve needed."
But as Leilani said at Chris Henry’s funeral was the other way around.
"Can’t nobody feel what I’m feeling right now. … We loved each other very much. People say I helped change his life. No. He changed mine," said Tonga, wearing sunglasses and pausing between sentences. "We were supposed to get married in three months, but I’m going to wait until I see him again."
Lately Leilani Tonga also spoke about Chris Henry’s moment of death. She said that they where having a fight, so she left to cool things off, but Chris threatened her to jump off the truck as she left, She was driving their pick up truck as she recalled not fast in azone speed limit of 35 mph, because she was paying attention to Chris who was standing in the back of the truck, she didn’t stop because there was no spot to do so on that specific road, Leilani also said that Chris probably got scared, because some neighbor was making a phone call to the police, that might get him in trouble, Leilani also recalled that Chris thought if he jumps off the truck he will be landing on his feet, but when Chris jumped no such thing happened, that’s when Leilani stepped out of the truck to assist Chris.
Chris Henry was pronounced dead at 6:37 a.m on December 17 due to a blunt-force trauma in the head.
"I have no idea what was going through his mind," she said. "But as far as him wanting to end his life, no, he had too much going on. I know he wouldn’t want to be gone away from his kids. He loves his kids. And everything was going really good. It’s just that one day …"
The young wide end of the Cincinnati Bengals was going to marry his fiancée Leilani Tonga in the next months as so did Leilani commented on her MySpace page where she said they were getting ready with all the details of their wedding like Bridesmaid fittings, rings, Bridal gown, wedding deposits and some more.
