Atlanta Falcons defensive back DeAngelo Hall said Sunday that wide receiver Terrell Owens should be suspended for spitting in his face during a game Saturday night. That’s right, T.O spit in DeAngelo’s face after getting frustrated.
In an interview with the NFL network Owens did apologize for the incident, and offered an explanation for his bad behavior. “Well, he had a lot of words,” Owens said of Hall. “I didn’t really have a whole lot for him. I know last year I had over 100 yards, and he said he shut me down, so I had that on my mind all year long. I just wanted to come out and just prove and let him know I’m a player to be reckoned with.”
Terrell Owens is one of the most talented receivers in the NFL, and I can’t help but wonder how much his game could improve if only he would focus on playing football. So heres an idea. Owens needs to make a New Years resolution to start grabbing the headlines in 2007 by grabbing footballs, and to stay clear of controversy, both on the field and off.
T.O. was fined $35,000 by the NFL on Monday for spitting in the face of Atlanta cornerback DeAngelo Hall during Saturday night’s Cowboys-Falcons game. Owens, however, told Westwood One radio that he has filed an appeal of the fine.
