WEC 45 Fight Card – Donald Cerrone will face off against Ed Ratcliff at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on December 19. Learn more about that match-up, plus we have the entire Fight Card listed below.
The two contenders fighting in the main event have similar WEC records. Cerrone comes into this bout 3-2 inside the World Extreme Cagefighting organization, with his last fight a lightweight championship loss against Ben Henderson. While Ratcliff holds a WEC record of 3-1, and could really use this win to catapult his career.
I have this one going to Cerrone, however if Ratcliff can evade his opponent’s superb jiu-jitsu technique he may surprise us.
Banavidez vs. Yahya should make for an outstanding bout, because this is Yahya’s chance to prove that he should get another bantamweight title shot. It has been over two years since Chase Beebe defeated him for the championship belt, but if he can pull off a victory against Banavidez it will be four straight wins since that loss. Which hopefully would ensure him a title fight sometime in the near future. On the other hand Banavidez is coming off a loss, and will need at least a couple more Ws before getting a shot at the title.
