After her two year suspension in 2007 for her positive testing on cocaine, Professional tennis player Martina Hingis decided to hit the dance floor in Strictly Come Dancing.
It has been two years after her positive testing on cocaine, but Martina decided she will leave tennis behind for three reasons – she didn’t want to be in a constant battle with doping officials, her age and health problems. At that time Martina Hingis was frustrated with the results calling them “horrendous and monstrous”.
Those days are in the past now, today will Martina be facing a new career? Probably not, but it is totally worthy to mention how stunning she looked in the British hit reality show Strictly Come Dancing which is the U.K version of U.S.’ Dancing with the Stars.
Martina Hingis danced with professional dancer Matthew Cutler who has been awarded as a champion as an amateur since 1990 and professionally since 2002. Today he is a BBC regular Strictly come Dancing dancer since 2005.
Although they improved dramatically since their first presentation, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman voted them as the first couple off the show. They came to this difficult decision because the improvement has been so notorious that they will become great but the other dancers were superb too.
But we can remember some of our dear Martina’s dancing beats in the first week during the first performance in which Martina scored 24 points out of 40 when she danced the waltz, she wore a delicate and very sophisticated pink dress that moves around the dance floor with sensuous flare, in the second performance she scored 22 points and she went the Latina way with the rumba where she attracted the viewers attention with a purple dress that revealed her beautiful, tight legs and a very provocative cleavage. Her beautiful outfits, perfect smile and gracious body left a pretty good impression in Strictly come Dancing and the same impression was on her and to her partner.
“It was a great experience, I learned so much and while I wish it could continue here we are, but maybe I’ll come back to London for some more lessons.”
Here is what Martina´s dancing partner Matthew Cutler said about her:
“She’s worked really hard and we had great fun together. And I learned something about tennis from you and I’m gutted that I’m going to miss out on that now!”
Martina remembered in the beginning of their first performance her dance partner Matthew told her:
“Do the exact opposite of what Monica Seles did when she appeared on DWTS”.
Other professional athletes in the popular British show have been Olympic long jumper Jade Johnson,ex- jockey Richard Dunwoody, former cricketer Phil Tufnelland and Joe Calzaghe (who is a retired boxer).
We will we watching for Martina Hingis’ next moves closely, on the dance floor or wherever life takes her, even if she doesn’t comes back to tennis her talent and pretty smile will be in our minds for a very long time.
