The Mitchell Report will be released today.

The Mitchell Report will be released today, 2:00 PM EST to be exact. The Associated Press reported that the first part of the Mitchell Report “will identify players and offer information about clubhouse personnel who allowed steroids and other banned substances in clubhouses or knew about it and didn’t say anything”.

The report was a result of a 20-month long investigation into the use of performance enhancing drugs in baseball. Former Senator George Mitchell was hired in March of 2006 after “Game of Shadows’ was published. The book was written by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters about Barry Bonds’ steroid use. Mitchell headed up the commission to investigate the drug issue.

Numerous reports suggest that the Mitchell Report lists between 50 and 100 players, former MVP’s, All-Stars, and Cy Young Award winners. A lot of those players can thank former New York Mets batboy/clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski for providing names to the report. He plead guilty in April for steroid distribution while he worked for the Mets from 1985 to 1995.

Check back for an update on the Mitchell Report this afternoon.
