There is terrific news for all of you Dream fans out there, and it’s that the team will be staying in Atlanta, according to reports.

What makes this so great is that just a couple of years ago the team was, how can I put this delicately, not that good. After a total transformation this season they made it to the playoffs, finishing with a winning record and all. Winning only four times in their debut season, this comes as the second greatest turnaround the WNBA has ever seen.

Although the agreement is still pending, from what I’ve gathered from reports, it’s pretty much a sure thing. Everybody is really excited about it too!

Who gets the credit for keeping the Dream alive? Well, according to Orender, mayoral contender Lisa Borders does. The WNBA president said in a recent interview that:

“She carved out time to bring sponsorships to the table and find investors who will make the Dream a continued reality for the staff.”

Even though for some weird reason this winning season drew a slightly less number of fans to the games, the average attendance was still just under 10,000 people a game. Hopefully, after all of these changes, next season will bring a rise in attendance along with it.
