Lyoto Machida vs Shogun Rua: UFC 104 Main Event

October 20, 2009

There really is no debate amongst fight fans about who will win the UFC 104 main event, Lyoto Machida vs Shogun Rua. Read more about the upcoming fight below.

UFC 1 1

Lyoto Machida is nicknamed “The Dragon,” but with his lighting quick strikes and cat like reflexes I prefer to call him “Macheetah”. He is coming into this fight with a perfect record, and I expect him to enter his next fight likewise.

For those of you who watch the hit Spike show “The Ultimate Fighter,” you already know that Rashad Evans is a beast of a MMA coach. At this point, as a coach, he is undefeated against Rampage Jackson, and his MMA record, which is set at 18-1-1 isn’t too shabby either. But when he went head to head against “Macheetah” at UFC 98, he was made to look like a novice in his own field of expertise, fighting.

Shogun on the other hand earned his bout against Machida by beating up old man Chuck Liddell. So, to be honest, that fight really didn’t mean much, which makes this fight all the more important for him to win. Despite two major knee surgeries, I expect (like most people) that Rua will fight hard, but in the end will simply just be outclassed.

To recap my prediction, I would be willing to bet that “Shogun” will be “Nogun” by the end of the second round by TKO.

The only man I believe that would stand a chance against “The Dragon” is the only man he refuses to fight, his training partner and friend Anderson Silva.

Machida isn’t refusing to fight Silva, it’s the othe way around. Silva said he’d never fight Machida, while Machida said he would fight whoever his boss (White) told him to fight. I’ll try to find the video where they interview them.
