As Lisa Leslie retires from the Los Angeles Sparks, the original WNBA member looks back on her career and has no regrets whatsoever. Read more about the story here.
Leslie’s last game was last Saturday – Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury. The Sparks lost 85-74.
Of her career, she said:
“I feel great because I know that every time I stepped out on that court I played as hard as I could, I’ve left everything out there and I did my best. That’s all you can do is play your best and try to be the best role model you can, and that’s what I’ve tried to do.”
Although she doesn’t really think of herself as retiring, it feels more like she is “transitioning”. She looks at the next phase of her life as becoming a better wife and now being able to spend more time at home, plus being a great Mom. She is married to Michael Lockwood, their daughter Lauren turned 2 in June.
Leslie, who has worn an Olympic gold medal around her neck four different times, helped the Sparks win two championship titles and was the first player to dunk in an WNBA game. You can see video of that feat below. She has played with the Sparks since the 1997 season. So that’s the latest news on Lisa Leslie retires…you will certainly be missed!
