A 748-pound monster of a shark was caught near Ft. Lauderdale, and a cameraman captured all of the excitement on video. Read more about this amazing story here.

While four friends were fishing off of the coast of Fort Lauderdale this past weekend they saw a gigantic shark tearing up the water as it devoured swordfish. Inching closer to the monster they decided to try their hand (not literally) at capturing it.

Luckily, one of the members of the group, Jamie Bunn had a camera at the time of the occurrence. So the video rolled as his fellow boat mates used a dead swordfish as a lure to get the shark near the boat, and then daringly leaned over the edge to apprehend it.

In the vid you can hear one of the fisherman exclaim that he was scared to lean over the edge because if he fell he’d be dead.

The task came as a challenge for the veteran fisherman, Bunn later said in an interview that he remembered one of his friends on board saying:

“We might as well get this thing. Someone’s dying today.”

When all was said and done the shark weighed in at a whopping 748 lbs and measured 10 ft in length, leaving the gentleman a heck of a fishing story to reminisce about for the rest of their lives.

Interesting fact: In Florida you are allowed to capture sharks that aren’t endangered as long as you have a fishing permit.
