Not much has been mentioned in regards to Drag racing star Erica Ortiz lately. Reportedly diagnosed with Cervical Cancer last year, the lady of FFW Pro 5.0 is rumored to have plans to attend the 8th Annual NMCA World Street Finals! As a biography Erica Ortiz was born on March 3rd of 1980. Ortiz is of Puerto Rican descent. She grew up in Orlando, Florida. Standing at 5’7″, she is currently a student at Troy State University.
Ortiz’s entrance into the world of racing is different than most. Erica, raised by her grandparents, fell in love after buying a 1990 Mustang GT. Without influence from family or friends Ortiz pursued her dreams.
Her start began at Lugo’s Automotive where she learned mechanics first hand from the owner. Erica has since gone on to compete in over a dozen racing events with great success. In 2001 she attended the World Ford Challenge Bracket 3, she placed as runner up. One year later she became the champion of the FFW Sunshine State Nationals.
Ortiz has also become the first female to compete in the FFW Pro 5.0. Erica has also placed as runner up in the Buckeye State Nationals, The Phenix Motorsports Quick 8 and the Pro 5.0 Points Championship.
