Miami Heat point guard Smush Parker has been put on the inactive list while he is being investigated for twisting the arm of a woman during an altercation over a $12 valet fee Tuesday.
Yomaira McKenzie, 41, has filed a civil lawsuit against Parker. Her attorney has said that they will ask the Miami-Dade State Attorney to file criminal charges against him as well.
It all started Tuesday morning when Parker was told he had a $12 valet parking charge at a condo building in Miami. He thought he had paid the fee the night before and was not carrying any cash. Parker was in a rush to get to a Heat practice.
McKenzie, an assistant manager for Standard Valet, was summoned to help settle the dispute and Smush then knocked over the valet parking podium and grabbed McKenzie by the arm.
McKenzie was treated at a local hospital for scratches on her left arm, plus she had complaints of a “tingling sensation” in her fingertips. She is sporting a sling on her left arm and a neck brace.
Heat coach Pat Riley released a statement Thursday:
“He has not been suspended and is currently on our inactive list,” Riley said in the statement. “This is a legal matter and we will have no further comment until the legal process runs its course.”
Parker did not attend practice Thursday and did not travel with the team for their game in Boston tonight.
