Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2010 Nominees Announced

September 24, 2009

Today is an exciting day for many music fans because the 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced. Find out which of your favorite bands made the coveted list here.

Now that the list of the 12 nominees has been revealed, the annual chatter about who should and shouldn’t be let into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame begins. The nominees include: The Stooges (should of happened a while ago), Kiss (Same thing goes for them), ABBA (good chance), Genesis (eh), Donna Summer (maybe?), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Probably only made it this go round for the hall to maintain relevance) and LL Cool J (Shoe in).

The complete list of candidates to be inducted next spring looks something like this:

The Stooges
Donna Summer
Darlene Love
Jimmy Cliff
Laura Nyro
Red Hot Chili Peppers
LL Cool J
The Chantels
The Hollies

Just in case you didn’t catch it, last year’s ceremony included the following inductees:

Jeff Beck, Run-D.M.C., Wanda Jackson, Bobby Womack, Bill Black, Metallica, and DJ Fontana and Spooner Oldham.

A judge’s panel will decide on who’s in and who’s out of the ceremony, which is scheduled for March 15. Also, a 25th anniversary concert that will feature the bands Metallica, U2, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and Simon & Garfunkel will be celebrated on Oct. 29-30.

Readers, what are your thoughts on the list of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2010 Nominees? Please feel free to tell us in our comment section. You will also find pictures and a video below.

WTF!!! rap in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!! this is trully and uterly disgusting. If they want to be in a hall of fame, make the “rap hall of fame”. is it because their black and if their not nominated the rock and roll hall of fame will be called raceist. I mean they havent nominated anyone who trully diserves it till this year that being the stooges, kiss, and genisses. Wheres acdc, motley crue, and iron maiden. thank you and maybe next year we’ll be introducing country…NOT IN HELL!!!

After Madonna was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame it should be renamed “The Rock and Roll of whoever wants to be in it. Next Barney and Elmo will be nominated. The tragedy is rock bands such as Moody Blues, Chicago, Three Dog Night and Alice Cooper are still waiting for their right to be in the Hall of Fame.

I have been waiting for KISS to get nominated for YEARS!!! It’s about time! I can not understand how they have been snubbed for all these years, when they are 100 times better, and have done much more for the genre, and the rock community than many artists who have made it in before them. They SO DESERVE to be there!!!

Lighten up, people. Everyone knows that the RRHOF is an eerie blend of sales award and cronie politics. Otherwise, a guy like Lonnie Mack, who was the first virtuoso rock guitarist, and THE original blues-rock guitarist, would have been “in” years ago.
