Fox’s decision to elect Ellen DeGeneres as an “American Idol” judge has not gone without controversy. Now the well-seasoned industry vet is speaking out to the naysayers. Find out what she had to say here.
As you probably are already well aware of, Ellen DeGeneres has replaced Paula Abdul as a judge on “American Idol”. Now what legions of “AI” fans are wondering is if she will be a good fit. That’s probably the reason why the veteran comedian will address the issue on her talk show Tuesday, and hopefully put the concerns to rest.
In the following statement given by DeGeneres, she lists the reasons why she will make a great judge.
“Apparently, there’s a lot of debate going on right now whether I’m qualified or not to be the new judge on American Idol. I know there is a lot chatter. I’ll tell you right now, how I know I’m going to be a great judge…I’ve spent my whole life being judged. So I know what it’s like. So I will be kind. I will be compassionate. I will be empathetic, and I will be truthful. I will be an honest judge without being mean.”
Then Ellen, who has never shied away from the fact that she is gay, went on to say that her arrival as a judge will strike a blow for equality. Joking that now the first African American President and Hispanic Supreme Court Justice have been elected to office, “AI” is “ready for their first blonde judge”.
LOL, Ellen! You always know how to make light of a heavy situation.
