Cynthia Barboza and her team, the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team, will be competing at the NORCECA Continental Championship this September from the 22nd through the 27th in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
If Barboza and her team win they will advance to the 2009 FIVB Grand Champions Cup to be held on November 10th in Japan.
As a biography Cynthia Barboza is a Volleyball Player who plays professionally and a Bellflower, California native born on February 7, 1987. Barboza currently plays for the Women’s US National Volleyball team. She has been a member since 2003, playing the position of Outside Hitter. Barboza stands at 6’0 and is a Stanford University graduate as well as a Gatorade National High School student.
Previous to turning pro, Barboza’s college days include a three time AVCA All American selection, was named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA First Team All American, was responsible for making over 1,000 kills among several other achievements.
Since graduation Cynthia Barboza has competed in the 2009 Pan American Cup where she placed fourth with her team. Barboza and the ladies of the US National team have also attended the FIVB World Grand Prix coming in at ninth place. In 2008 the pro Volleyball players attended the Pan American Cup and the US Olympic Team Exhibition vs. Brazil. Barboza has won several medals with her teammates, gold, silver and bronze since 2003.
