Michael Jordan 1

Basketball legend Michael Jordan was inducted into the Hall of Fame on September 11, 2009, and the star was in rare form .

It was clearly a great honor for the athlete, and Michael who is usually reserved was cracking jokes, telling stories, and even crying during his speech.

Michael thanked every one of the influences in his life, and even told his children he wouldn’t want to be then, because of the expectations people have for them. He also joked about having to pay $1000 a ticket to get all of his family and friends there for the special occasion, noting that they used to go for $200.

My favorite story was the one about a time when the Bulls were losing until he scored the final 20 points of the game. As he came off the court, Winter looked at him and said, “Michael, there is no ‘I’ in team.” Jordan said he shot back, “But there is an ‘I’ in win.” The sounds like the confidence one needs to have to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Jordan made it very clear in his speech that all of his rivalries, and everything he fought for was for the love of the game, and of course to win.
