Layne Beachley Is An Australian Surfer

Layne Beachley is reportedly getting ready to compete at the 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour event in South Whales. Read more about the professional surfer here.

Retired professional surfer Layne Beachley is reportedly planning to compete at the ASP Women’s World Tour event being held at Dee Why, Northern Beaches in New South Whales at the end of September. The surfer will go up against World No. 1 surfer Stephanie Gilmore and World No.2 Tyler Wright.

The show down kicks off on September 30th and runs through October 5th.

As a biography Layne Beachley is a former professional surfer who was born in Sydney, Australia. She is a seven time World Champion and Surfing Hall of Famer.

At the age of just sixteen years old Beachley turned professional. In 2004 she entered the Energy Australia Open on a wild card. Layne then went on to become the ASP World’s Champion in 1998, 1199-2003 and again in 2006.

While maintaining her successful career in the surfing world Beachley also starred in several movies like Blue Crush, Billabong Odyssey and Step into Liquid.

In 2008 Layne Beachley retired. She is engaged to INXS‘s Kirk Pengilly.
