Madden Curse: Troy Polamalu Injured

September 11, 2009

Has the Madden curse struck again? Last night Troy Polamalu was injured during the 2nd quarter as the Steelers battled it out against the Titans. Read more about the story here.

Troy Polamalu

The merciless Madden curse is said to have struck again, this time it was at the very first 2009 -2010 regular season game. Pittsburgh Steelers safety and 2010 Madden co-cover player Troy Polamalu injured his knee last night during the 2nd quarter while playing defense against the Tennessee Titans.

At this point in time, the only information that’s been made available is that he’s suffering from a sprained MCL. To what extent and when he will return to game play is anyone’s guess.

Other NFL players who have suffered the same fate after being featured on the cover of the popular video game include Marshall Faulk, Ray Lewis, Shaun Alexander, Vince Young, and Michael Vick.

What I propose is John making a return to his games cover next year so that we wont have to hear about this silly superstition again.

But just in case you believe in this type of stuff, it may be in your best interest to trade Arizona Cardinal star Larry Fitzgerald off of your fantasy team.

What are your thoughts? Is Troy Polamalu injured as a direct result of the Madden Curse? Let us know in the comment section.

Of course this is a direct correlation with the Madden Curse!!! It’s real. Ever since G. Hearst was featured on the cover of the Madden football video game every year the curse has struck. G. Hearst broke his ankle so severely in the playoffs the year he was featured he couldn’t play for the next two seasons. Barry Sanders abruptly retired in his prime just after only ten seasons as a pro. Eddie George didn’t break the 1000 rush mark and Tennessee failed to make the playoffs. Daunte Culpepper missed got injured and missed 4 games. Marshall Faulk got injured. Michael Vick missed 11 games with a broken leg. Ray Lewis missed one game and failed to record an interception for the first time in his career. Donovan McNabb was injured in week 9 and missed the rest of the season. Shaun Alexander missed 6 games with a broken foot. Vince Young got injured and had a painfully horrible season. Brett Favre injured his throwing arm and had 6 less TD passes and 7 more interceptions than the year before and now Troy Polamalu is injured!!
