It’s the second world record that fell at the Germany World Cup short course meter stop in Berlin. In the Men’s 100 free, Sweden’s Stefan Nystrand already knocked out the global standard, Veldhuis decided to follow his footsteps in the Women’s 50 free. Marleen Veldhuis had amazing time was 23.58 , the prior record was set by Sweden’s Therese Alshammar’s global standard of 23.59 that was set in March 2000.
Also Dara Torres who swims for the United States beat the previous American record of 24.21 set by Kara Lynn Joyce in March 2004. Torres had a oustanding time of 23.82 and became the first sub-24 American in the event.
