Aliann Pompey is a professional Guyanese sprinter who recently set a new Guyana national record at the World Track and Field Championships in Berlin. Pompey came in with a time of 50.71 in the 400 metre event.




Aliann Pompey Biography

Aliann Pompey is a professional Guyanese sprinter from Guyana. Pompey was born on September 3, 1978. She is a graduate from Cohoes High School who specializes in the 400 metre event.

In 2000 Pompey made her professional debut at the Summer Olympics. In 2001 she attended both the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships. One year later Aliann attended the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England. She placed 1st.

In 2003 Pompey went on to compete again in the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships as well as the Pan American Games where she placed third. To date Aliann Pompey’s personal best time is 50.93 seconds.
