After thirteen years on the field with the New England Patriots, Linebacker Tedy Bruschi has retired from the world of professional football at the age of thirty-six. Read more on Bruschi’s retirement and watch video after the jump.

He played his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots since his debut in 1996 and now Tedy Bruschi has retired. Announced today the linebacker stated:

“I’m 36 years old. Your body doesn’t heal as quickly.”

It will be sad to see him go especially after his recovery from a stroke back in 2005 that left the New England Patriot with partial paralysis. Bruschi, a three time Super Bowl champion, made his announement today alongside his coach Bill Belichick and the Patriot’s owner Bob Kraft. Visibly emotional about Bruschi’s retirement Belichick stated:

“How do I feel about Tedy Bruschi?” Belichick said. “He’s a perfect player.”

Tedy Bruschi’s reply to his coach:

“That’s something you’ll never hear during your career. To have him say that to me is probably the best compliment he could ever give me.”
