Birmingham’s Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios brother, Edwin René Palacios (15) who was abducted from his home in Honduras by an armed gang 2 weeks ago has been released unharmed by his kidnappers. Wilson was happy that the nightmare was over:

“Now I am relieved and so happy,” he said. “I can fully focus myself on football thanks to God. My team-mates helped me a lot during that terrible period of my life and I want to thank them for that. My team-mates helped me a lot during that terrible period of my life and I want to thank them for that”

The brothers’ father Eulogio Palacios was hospitalized for heart problems on Friday. The kidnappers left him and his wife locked up in a room after the abduction.

unfortunately, wilson was misinformed. as of today (27 january 2008), the ransom has been paid but edwin rené has not been returned, and the family has lost contact with the kidnappers. we can only hope that edwin rené is still alive and will be returned safely very soon.

sadly this note is wrong, one of the gang members that helped kidnap edwin has said where he believes his body might be, he said he was executed by other members and told where he was buried. sad story.
