Heidi and Heather Burge: Longest-Limbed Basketball Twins

Heidi and Heather Burge hold the record for being the longest-limbed twins in the world. Also, their remarkable story about how they made it to the WNBA was turned into a Disney movie titled “Double Teamed”.

It seems that sport fans have a long held interest in siblings that have comparable athletic abilities. For example Peyton Manning and his brother Eli, or Jose and Ozzie Canseco. This story is no exception.

The twins fascinating story begins when they were forced to transfer from the school that they were attending to go to a “better’ one. That is when a coach discovered them, and their basketball career began. In order to fit in at the new school and on the team they would lie to teammates telling them that they were rich.

Heidi Burge Biography

She was born on November 11, 1971 at 5:56 p.m. in Fairfax, Cal. Both her and her twin sister graduated from Palos Verdes High, and played basketball at a collegiate level at the University of Virginia. They then went on to play professionally in Europe, and later in the WNBA. At one time they held the record for tallest female twins, standing 6 feet 5 inches, until Ann and Claire Recht broke it.

Heidi Burge played for the Los Angeles Sparks, and also the Washington Mystics until she retired as a result of injuries.
