Sophie Gustafson Biography

As a biography Sophie Gustafson is a Swedish professional golfer who was born on December 27, 1973. Gustafson attended Aranasskolan & Komvux University to study marketing, economics and law before going professional in 1992.

During 1992-1995 Sophie competed in a handful of Telia Tours and Ladies European Tour tournaments. In 1996 she won the Telia Tour at the Rörstrand Ladies Open and the Ladies European Tour at the Déesse Ladies Swiss Open. In the years to follow Sophie also placed first in the the Ladies Asian Tour at the Thailand Ladies Open, the Ladies European Tour and the Telia Tour Finale.

2000 proved to be Gustafson’s best year. She managed to win the LPGA at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship, the Ladies Italian Open, the Waterford Crystal Ladies Irish Open and the Women’s British Open. Sophie also was named Swedish Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of Year.

Gustafson’s other career highlights include a win at the 2001 LPGA Tour at the Subaru Memorial of Naples and the 2003 Samsung World Championship on the LPGA tour. She was also awarded the Vivien Saunders Stroke average trophy and the LET Order of Merit title.
