Professional British Freestyle swimmer Rebecca Adlington is getting ready for the London 2012 Olympic Games with a promise to be even better than her performance at the 2008 Olympics. Read more on Adlington after the jump.
As a biography British Freestyle swimmer Rebecca Adlington was born February 17, 1989 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. Adlington is the first Olympic swimmer to come out of Britain since 1988. She is a former student of The Brunts School and used to swim at the Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club.
In 2008 Rebecca Adlington competed at the Summer Olympics in both the 400 m and 800 m freestyle swimming events. Rebecca also won the 800 m Olympic freestyle final with a world record time of 8:14.10. Adlington took home two gold medals.
Rebecca Adlington came in third in the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year award and has also been appointed as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
