Austrailian tennis player Samantha Stosur is in the news today, as she beat out fourth seed Elena Dementieva, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, in the third round of the French Open Saturday.

Currently ranked 30th, she is thrilled to be heading into the fourth round, the farthest she has gone in a Major.

“As that match went on today I knew I could get there because I was playing (well) enough and was handling the conditions and everything maybe a little bit better than her,” Stosur said.

With Stosur’s win, she is the last Aussie left competing in the French Open. She will next meet France’s Virginie Razzano, who beat out Tathiana Garbin of Italy.
