Billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, apologized to Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin’s mother Lydia Moore for having a heated exchange with her after Denver beat Dallas in the game three of the second playoff series. Cuban’s apology came on his blog, 90 minutes after the game ended.

“When tempers and such start impacting the fan experience both in Dallas and Denver, and it requires special security, that’s not what I want for Mavs or Nuggets fans.”

He also invited Kenyon and his family to watch the next game from his personal suite and for a dinner during the off-season.

Earlier, the Nuggets defeated Mavericks 106-105, in a match marred by mistakes by NBA officials who failed to account for an intentional foul which might have restricted the winning shot. Dallas players were visibly furious and Josh Howard had to be contained by his teammates. Cuban was, in particular, very angry about the decision and he stormed off the court.

He met Lydia, wearing the Mavericks jersey, in the lobby and lost his temper.

According to Cuban, a fan called the Nuggets “thugs” and he looked at Moore and said, “That includes your son.” However, Martin’s agent told the Denver Post that Cuban said, “Your son is a punk.”
