Stenson dominated the final round with his 12-under par performance to win the PGA U.S. Players Championship yesterday at Sawgrass, Florida. He holed as many as six birdies to capture the lead from German Alex Cejka and go on to win the top prize of $1.7 million.

“He played flawlessly,” Stenson’s playing partner Ben Crane said. “It was a tough test of golf and he went around like it wasn’t.”

Tiger Woods finished on the eight position in the championship.




Henrik Stenson Biography

As a biography, Henrik Stenson is 33 years of age and hails from Sweden. He turned professional in 1999 and started playing on the European Tour in 2001. Since then, Stenson has won six Tour events and has finished in the top 10 consecutively for the past five years.

Stenson won the 2007 Dubai Desert Classic to become the highest ranked European golfer and No. 8 in the world rankings. He also won one of the World Golf Championships in the same year and was the first Swede to do so. He has also played in the European Ryder Cup team twice. Besides the European Tour wins, Stenson also has two PGA Tour and three Challenge Tour wins to his name.

In his personal life, Stenson is married to Emma Lofgren and the couple have a daughter, Lisa.
