San Diego Chargers Evacuate Wildfires

October 23, 2007

The San Diego Chargers canceled practice on Monday due to the wildfires in San Diego County, and will fly to Phoenix today to practice at the Cardinals’ training facility in Tempe on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

MVP LaDainian Tomlinson was just one of the several Chargers players, coaches, and staff members who had to evacuate their homes. More than 250,000 people have been evacuated.

The Arizona Cardinals have a bye this week, but will practice Wednesday morning, with the Chargers taking the practice field after that. Because of the bye, the Cardinals will not practice after Wednesday.

No word yet on where Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans will be played, as Qualcomm Stadium is currently being used as a an evacuation center.

It was just four years ago in October of 2003 when the Chargers had to move a home game to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe because of wildfires.
