Carissa Moore scored the cover of Surfer Magazine, and by doing so, she became the first woman in over a decade to become the cover girl. The last female cover girl was Lisa Andersen back in 1995. She is also the youngest female to land the cover as well. She said:
“I am very stoked on that. It was quite a surprise actually. My dad knew and kept it from me for like a month and a half. One day after surfing we returned home, my dad said he wanted to go over some footage that he found on the Internet. When I looked at the computer, there it was. I was seriously freaking out. I was like, ‘No way! No way! No way!’
As a biography, Carissa Moore was born on August 27, 1992 in Hawaii, so her age is 16. She stands 5 feet 5 inches tall. She currently attends Punahou School in Oahu, where she is learning Japanese.
She was only four years old when she started surfing in Waikiki and quickly rose to the top in the amateur world of surfing.
In December 2008, she won the Triple Crown event at Haleiwa, and in doing so became the youngest person to master that feat. She was previously sponsored by Roxy, but has recently moved on to new sponsors Red Bull and Nike 6.0.
