Xavier suffered “a sharp pain” while throwing during Tuesday night’s Yankees game and was rushed to a hospital later. His injury turned out be a major one and he’ll be undergoing MRI today. The Yankees are holding their breaths as he is most likely to stay away from the field for a long time.

“We’ll keep our fingers crossed,” Joe Girardi said. “Whenever you have a sharp pain like that, it’s scary.”

Nady had undergone a right elbow surgery before also in 2001.




As a biography, Xavier Nady was born on November 14, 1978 in Salinas, California so his age is 30. He attended UC Berkeley and was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 2000 MLB Draft. He became the 18th player at that time to go directly to the major leagues. He was named as the Padres Minor League Player of the Year in 2001 and got the honors for the Most Valuable Player in the California League.

Nady underwent an elbow surgery in 2001. He later played for the New York Mets and the Pittsburgh Pirates before being traded to the Yankees. He has signed a $6.56m one-year deal with the club and will be a free agent after the current season.

In his personal life, Nady is married to Meredith and has a son, Xavier Henry Nady VII.
