Meet Cheyenne Woods, an American college golf player who is the niece of Tiger Woods. Cheyenne has obviously inherited golfing skills from her family and she’s already ranked 100 in Golfweek‘s ‘Best Female Golfers’ list. See photos, video and a biography of Cheyenne Woods here.
Cheyenne is in the news as she was recently profiled on NPR. Although, she’s more famous for being Tiger’s niece today, but going by her skills… it’s only a matter of time when she makes a name for herself in the sport. She is certainly a rising star and she talked about her uncle and her career in the interview.
“I think I first started and continued to play golf because right around the time I started, Tiger had just turned pro and won the Masters and all of that. Seeing him on TV really made me … want to keep going out and playing … and trying to be like him.”
As a biography, Cheyenne Woods was born on July 25, 1990 in Phoenix, Arizona so her age is 18. She is the daughter of Earl Jr., half-brother of Tiger and took initial golfing lessons from Earl Sr. who was her grandfather and who also taught Tiger during his junior days.
Cheyenne attended Xavier College Preparatory high school and was named the most valuable golf player by her teammates at the school three times.
Her illustrious high school career included winning the Arizona 5A State Championships in 2006 and 2007. She was named the 2007 Arizona High School Golfer of the Year and has won more than 30 amateur titles. Cheyenne took admission in Wake Forest last year and the school finished ninth in the 2008 Fall Season opener. Individually, she finished 26th amongst a field of 75 college players.
