‘Through this result, the season could change for us. We are top of the league again and that’s where we want to be. I think our blip is over now.
‘It was a great goal and I have just said “well done” to him. It is important to keep his feet on the ground but there is no doubt at all about how important his goal was.’
As a biography, Federico Macheda was born on August 22, 1981 in Rome, Italy, so his age is 17. He started his soccer career with the Italian club Lazio, but because he was under 18 and not allowed to sign a professional contract (due to Italian law), he was not officially bound to the team. After he turned 16, Manchester United signed him as a trainee on September 16, 2007, where he started a three year scholarship in MU’s Academy.
He began with the Manchester United Under-18 team, and during his first game with the club, scored the only goal against Barnsley on September 15, 2007. He ended up finishing the season with 12 goals, earning him top scorer honors for the season.
He received a Manchester Senior Cup on May 12, 2008. When Macheda turned 17 in August of 2008, he signed a pro contract with Manchester United. He was still playing on the Under 18 team in the 2008-2009 season as well as for the reserves.
