The Washington Redskins cheerleaders are the longest running cheerleading organization in the NFL. They made their debut as the “Redskinettes” on September 30, 1962, with a group of 30 women.
Since their debut in 1962, the Washington Redskins cheerleaders have really taken the world by storm. They have toured China, Turkey, Italy, Sicily, Spain and France as part of the USO, and have appeared in numerous TV commercials, print ads, and magazines. They’ve been featured on David Letterman’s Top 10 list, two E! Channel specials, and most recently won the championship in the battle of hte NFL Cheerleaders at the 2007 Super Bowl.
The Redskins cheerleaders released their first swimsuit calendar in 1998, and it was shot on location in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They released another calendar in 2000, along with a video – “The Making of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Calendar”, where the cheerleaders had swimsuits body painted on them. They continue to release calendars every year.
